“True Story”

Running to a spot called home. In disbelief of her actions. Vowing to herself that she would never make the same mistake twice. Failed. Miserably failed. So now she’s running home because where she sought comfort from the last two hours has to run back to his home too. They both vowed not to get caught up. They both vowed to let nature run its course with them, for they did not want to be responsible for a split if one were to ever occur. Clutching tight to her purse and catching each tear as they fail, she realized she was too far in to just walk away. Was this nature’s way of playing a cruel trick on her or was this deeper than what was painted on the canvas? Behind the canvas always lies a wall that the canvas is hung up on. Had she been the crane to knock the wall down? Uncommon feelings emerged. She walked into her studio apartment. Lit up and relaxed her mind. Every conversation they ever had replayed in her mind. His voice, his laughter, even his look were all clear in her head. Peace. She heard his words and she hung tight to them. Unlike before they held meaning and purpose. Nobody has ever had a meaningful purpose in her life, except her ex. Who is purposely nonexistent. So her tears stopped and she cracked a smile. She thought about their situation and she knew if she were to be involved with him that it would be different. But now it was coming to life and she understood her place, purpose, within his presence. She refused to let outsiders melee in something clean, pure, and fresh. Dirty hands always leave prints. Everywhere. It wasn’t there place to navigate the controls. In order for this to work between the two lonely souls they would have to depend on each other for the truth, honesty, and loyalty. It would have to between them that information be transpired. Otherwise her gullible mind and his lack of sight would demolish and diminish something so beautiful. Something so beautiful that would transpire between the two. A child. Her insecurities surfaced because she lacked some information from him. But eventually with time she would know all. So she sat there eyes low, red, dazed, and aware. This was a beautiful situation that would grow into something bigger than the two, but she had to be patient. She had to know that like every beautiful situation things were slowly created. Built. Developed. And then gazed upon because of its beauty. A beautiful situation. Maggot Brain by Funkadelic played throughout her apartment. On repeat. Her eyes began to fill with heaviness and her heart rate had slowed down. Peace. It wasn’t going to be like the movies, he wasn’t going to show up at her door unexpected. Or maybe he would, neither one lived in reality. But she knew what she was involving her self in. That in due time her patience would be awarded. That in due time he would feel complete because she gave him his first life. Realizing that tonight with him was not a mistake, it was not an aspect in her life where she failed, it was not for the outsiders, but that there moment was purposely aligned. She fell asleep.
